Stainless Steel 316 Flanges are mostly made of iron with chromium (16–18%), nickel (10–14%), and molybdenum (2–3%) as the most important alloying constituents. Low carbon content (≤0.08%) improves weldability and minimizes carbide precipitation on welding. The mechanical properties are a tensile strength of around 515 MPa, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and an elongation of 35%, offering a combination of strength and ductility appropriate for numerous industrial purposes.
