Monel lap joint flanges consist mainly of nickel (63–70%) and copper (28–34%), along with minor elements of iron (≤2.5%), manganese (≤2%), silicon (≤0.5%), carbon (≤0.3%), and sulfur (≤0.024%). The composition provides outstanding corrosion resistance, especially in marine and acidic atmospheres. Mechanical characteristics incorporate tensile strength of around 485 MPa, yield strength of about 170 MPa, and elongation of 35%, creating an equilibrium of strength and ductility ideal for use in numerous industrial applications.
