Monel K500 flanges consist mainly of nickel (63–70%) and copper (27–33%), with the addition of aluminum (2.3–3.15%) and titanium (0.35–0.85%) to promote strength by age-hardening. Iron (≤2%), manganese (≤1.5%), silicon (≤0.5%), carbon (≤0.25%), and sulfur (≤0.01%) occur in small quantities. The mechanical properties are a tensile strength of about 1150 MPa, yield strength of around 790 MPa, and elongation of 20%, giving a combination of strength and ductility appropriate for diverse industrial use.
